Skype Visits

Question: Do you Skype with students?

Answer: YES!

I love chatting with book groups and library groups and classrooms. These visits usually last 15-30 minutes, depending on the time considerations. It usually works better if they write down their questions in advance – mostly because it helps them to think of LOTS AND LOTS OF NEW QUESTIONS as we go. I also ask that they have a pencil and paper handy, because I always like to give them book recommendations to keep them reading.

Question: How much do Skype visits cost?

Answer: For a typical visit? Nothing. Just set up your computer and your projector and the kids and I will do the rest. If you’d like to do something more long-term: a Skype-based writing workshop, for example, Or a series of visits to scaffold your class’s reading experience, we can discuss a reasonable fee based on your school’s budget.
